Wonderful Weekend for Women

September 16 & 17, 2011

Webster Conference Center, Salina, KS

A testimony by Ida Richardson....

I came from a church that attended 2, 3, maybe 4 women's retreats a year.  The purpose in so many was so everyone would have a chance to attend at least one.  Personally, I never wanted to miss one.  However, since we moved to Kansas, what with working full time and the fact that the WWW falls on my daughter and granddaughter's birthday weekend, I never got around to attending.  This year, God arranged it for me to be able to go.  And, I am thankful that He did.

They certainly name the weekend correctly, for it was wonderful.  To be honest, it wasn't what I expected, but God knew exactly what I needed.  I enjoyed the company of Marilyn, Beverly and Jynette.  As Jynette put it, "we see each other on Sunday mornings, and a few other times, but we never have really gotten to know each other."  I am now better friends with these three amazing women.  Thank you for sharing yourselves with me.

God spoke to us.  He had a purpose in bringing us to Camp Webster for this weekend.  I was lead to a particular session and was blessed beyond measure by it.  I ask that you pray for the four of us who attended as God uses what we learned in our lives.  Also, ladies, please begin praying now about attending next year.  You will be blessed.

A testimony by Marilyn McFann...

*INTER  RUPTED*

Have we interrupted our busy lives to place Jesus and His church 1st and to follow Him?  We should be asking ourselves in everything we do and say, "How would Jesus want us to handle our life's choices?"  If we place Jesus 1st, everything in our lives will fall into place.  It's that simple.  This is another reason why we need to fellowship.

"Interrupted" was the theme for this year's "Wonderful Weekend for Women" hosted at beautiful Webster Conference Center in Salina, Kansas on September 16th & 17th.  As part of the family of God, I was feeling the need for spiritual, personal, evangelistic and missionary growth in my life.  I needed a refresher on putting Jesus 1st.  The opportunity to attend "Wonderful Weekend for Women" was there for me, so I placed it on my calendar and planned to attend.  I was excited!  The fellowship of my sisters in Christ was fulfilling.  Other ISBC members that were able to attend were Bev Nuckolls, Jynette Gibbs and Ida Richardson.  Traveling together was fun and we formed a special bond.  Getting to know each other was a true blessing.  Worshiping Jesus together with all the women who attended was refreshing as a clear-flowing brook.  You just need to open your ears and eyes to let Jesus come into your heart.  If you feel the need to open your heart, it will happen.  Jesus wants to come into your heart and live.  Let Him come in.

Here are a few of the "Life Sessions" we were able to choose from:  Conversations with God, Sharing Jesus: Our BFF (Best friend forever), Echoes from the Pit, Telling My Story-101, Finding Passion and Purpose for the 2nd Half of Life, and the list goes on.

Please take a moment to open your ears and eyes and place the following Bible verse in your heart....Matthew 25:34-40.  34 "Then the King will say to those on His right, 'Come, you who are blessed of My Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.  35 'For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me something to drink; I was a stranger, and you invited Me in;  36 naked, and you clothed Me; I was sick, and you visited Me; I was in prison, and you came to Me.'  37 "Then the righteous will answer Him, 'Lord, when did we see You hungry, and feed You, or thirsty, and give You something to drink?  38 'And when did we see You a stranger, and invite You in, or naked, and clothe You?  39 'When did we see You sick, or in prison, and come to You?40 "The King will answer and say to them, 'Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers of Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.'

So when we "INTERRUPT" our busy lives to place Jesus 1st in our decisions, in what we think & do, we are doing it to Jesus.  Oh my gosh, I need to work on keeping Jesus 1st in my life.  And at the same time, set an example to those who do not have their ears, eyes and heart open.

Make a plan and mark your busy calendar to place your heart at Wonderful Weekend for Women on September 14 and 15, 2012.  The food is de-li-cious also!

Have you ever tasted Buffalo?

As many of you know, the Preschool through High School Sunday School classes have taken field trips over the last several years.  Before school started this year, we went to the Buffalo Refuge in Garden City.  On the way to Garden City, the question was asked to the children in one of the vehicles, "Have you ever seen a buffalo?" to which came the answers "Yes" and "No".  The next question asked, "Have you ever tasted buffalo?"  One boy replied, "Nooooo, wait yes I have, I've had buffalo wings!"  You never know what you are going to hear when you put a group of kids in a car for thirty minutes.  When we arrived at the Refuge our kids were ready for an adventure.  We got on the trailer and were off.  As we quickly went down the first "giant hill", several of our kids threw their hands into the air as if they were riding a roller coaster.  We bumped along the trail listening to the guide tell us about the buffalo, our kids' hair blowing in the breeze.  The kids listened so well and asked amazing questions.  When we came upon the buffalo herd, there was an audible "AHWW" from the kids.  We don't know which they loved more, the HUGE buffalo, the mama buffalo or the sweet, sweet babies.  One of the best questions asked was, "How do you get the buffalo to hold still so you can shave them?"  We rode the trail for about an hour looking at the buffalo, looking at the wildflowers, looking at the Kansas Forest (yes, western Kansas has a forest), and looking at all the amazing things God has created.

If you have not seen the pictures from this trip, please take a few minutes and look at them.  They are posted in the hall by our Sunday School classes.  There are also pictures from our other trips posted there.  I consider it such a blessing to be able to help teach these children.  God has given us these children and it is a huge responsibility to help give them a Christian foundation.  It takes all of us working together.

Respectfully submitted, Jennifer Murphy

Daily Prayers Dissolve Your Cares

I meet God in the morning

And go with Him through the day.

Then in the stillness of the night

Before sleep comes I pray

That God will just "take over"

All the problems I couldn't solve

And in the peacefulness of sleep

My cares will all dissolve.

So when I open my eyes

To greet another day

I'll find myself renewed in strength

And there'll open up a way

To meet what seemed impossible

For me to solve alone

And once again I'll be assured

I am never "on my own"....

For if we try to stand alone

We are weak and we will fall,

For God is always greatest

When we're helpless, lost, and small.

And no day is unmeetable

If on rising our first thought

Is to thank God for the blessing

That His loving care has brought....

So meet Him in the morning

And go with Him through the day

And thank Him for His guidance

Each evening when you pray.

And if you follow faithfully

This daily way to pray,

You will never in your lifetime

Face another "hopeless day".

Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer

The Women on Mission of Immanuel So. Baptist Church will be hosting the annual observance of "Baptist Women's World Day of Prayer" on Monday, November 7th.  We have invited the ladies from First Baptist Church, Scott City, to join us for a salad supper at 6:30, followed by a program.  This is a wonderful opportunity to gather together and pray for the concerns of our country, community and to seek God's guidance in our Christian lives and in our churches.

October is Pastor Appreciation Month!

We are so thankful for Bro. Robert and Beverly & for

their committment to serving the Lord here at

A woman was asked by a co-worker,

'What is it like to be a Christian?'

The Christian woman replied, 'It is like being a pumpkin.

God picks you from the patch, brings you in,

and washes all the dirt off of you.

Then He cuts off the top and scoops out all the yucky stuff.

He removes the seeds of doubt, hate, and greed.

Then He carves you a new smiling face and

puts His light inside of you to shine for all the world to see.'
